=== UW Law 2L looking for housemate for 2007 academic year ===

I’m a UW law student and have available a 2-bedroom apartment a few blocks from the law school (4134 11th Ave. NE 98105).  The apartment is 900+ sq ft, has wood floors and molding, and is furnished.  (The 2nd bedroom is not furnished.)  The building was constructed around 1940, is quite roomy, and has a lot of nice details—a very pleasant place to live.

I am looking for a roommate for the 2007-08 school year, preferably a graduate or law student.  I am 37, male, don’t smoke, seldom drink, and am reserved in general.  I’m interested in international law/China law.

Move-in procedures require a $35 fee for a criminal/credit check and a photocopy of a picture ID.  The up-front costs are: 1/2 of first and last months' rent and 1/2 of the $450 security deposit.  Other necessary fees are 1/2 of the wireless internet bill and 1/2 of the electric bill.  The apartment rents for $990/mo.

If you are interested, please contact me at jrawert at u dot Washington dot edu or call 206-251-6314. Thanks, Joe

* Preferred Situation: I will be starting as a PhD in anthropology student and am looking for housing for my husband and I from early September 2007 until at least the end of the academic year. We would really like to find something long-term (i.e. 3-5 years).  We prefer a 2-bedroom apartment, duplex, or single-family house. Prefer to be close to UW, preferably in the U-district, Ravenna, Ballard, Fremont, Wallingford, Wedgewood, Maple Leaf, or Capitol Hill. No pets, non-smokers, great credit and excellent references. My husband is a certified acupuncturist and Chinese herbal practitioner and has been in private practice since 2005 and he would consider bartering his services for reduced rent. We are both in our 30s. If you have something that you think could fit our needs, I will be in Seattle to view houses from Aug 3-6.  Please contact me either on my email or on my cell phone, (617) 852-0299.  I look forward to hearing from you!

I am a doctoral student beginning my studies in September. I am a non-smoker, and do not have pets. I own a car, and therefore need available parking (street is fine). I prefer the availability of a dishwasher, and laundry facilities in suite or on-site. I am quiet, responsible and pay rent/bills on time. I will be in Seattle this weekend (Saturday and Sunday, July 21 and 22) to view potential apartments, and will pay damage/rent for August (move in Sept 1).

* Preferred Situation: Hello! I am starting graduate school (for a master’s in library science) at the University of Washington in the fall and am currently looking for a studio in the capitol hill area. I’m moving up from the San Francisco bay area so I’m not currently in Seattle to view places, although I will be for one weekend in August. I am looking to rent starting September 15th. Primarily, I’m looking for a studio that is QUIET. This is really important to me, as I have been disappointed with previous apartments and since I’m going back to school, I’ll need to have peace and quiet. Size of the studio matters less to me. However, since I have no car, it should be conveniently located near buses to UW as well as grocery stores. An upper-level studio would also be great. And, I prefer a gas stove/oven and the studio should be equipped with a full kitchen. I have excellent credit and am very clean and conscientious. I’m open to taking over leases. If you are someone moving out of a studio and want to leave behind furniture, that might work since I’m moving from far away. :) Please contact me if you think we might be a match or need more information from me! :) Thank you for reading this! ~eloise~

Revision as of 23:21, 15 May 2008

The Wanted Housing page can be used to make a list of desired housing. This page will be linked to from the ocha website so that landlords can find out what students want. You may want to include contact information so that a landlord can contact you after listing a property that fits your description. However, remember that this page is accessible to everyone (so that landlords can see it) so you may want to disguise your address so that bots are not able to grab your address and spam you. For example: asuwtech@u.washington.edu could become asuwtech at u dot washington dot edu.

You may instead use the Uw:Wanted Housing page to post listings that are only viewable to the UW community if you wish to limit your audience.

For help on editing this page to add your listing please view the help pages.

Actual Listings

Superclean PhD student (31) and tech industry employee (30) seek 2 bdrm in Capitol Hill Feb 29, 2008

Looking for a pair of clean, quiet, responsible tenants who will take care of your revenue property?

That's us! Our lease is up Feb 29th and we're looking to move!

I'm Vanessa. I'm 31 and I'm a fully funded PhD student at the UW. My friend and roommate Denny is 30 and works full-time as an engineer in the tech industry. We are looking to move to the Capitol Hill area.

We are friendly Canadians who are pet-free, clean to the point of obsessive compulsion, non-smokers, have clean credit and rental histories, never wear shoes in the house (Asian thing, we grew up leaving shoes at the door), never throw parties (parties are better when the mess is at someone else's place), and have always treated our rentals as if they were our own homes. We are quiet, mature, responsible, and religiously pay rent on time.

As good tenants, we're hoping to find a good honest landlord and fair rent. We're looking for:

- 2/2 (preferred) or 2/1 for $1000-$1350 in Capitol Hill - off street parking for at least one car - W/D in suite preferred, on site laundry at a minimum - newer or recently renovated preferred - near busline to UW - 1 year lease ok - available end of Feb

Thanks for reading, Vanessa and Denny

1BD/1BA apartment wanted for mid-August

  • Today's Date: 7/5/2007
  • Term Needed: 8/20/2007 - indefinitely
  • Rent Willing to Pay: $750
  • Contact: Theresa
  • Phone: 770.851.1371
  • Email: tantoine at u dot washington dot edu
  • Preferred Situation: UW doctoral student looking for 1BD/1BA apartment for mid-August. I’m a non-smoker, and I do not own any pets (allergies). I’m mature, quiet, clean, organized, and a prior homeowner that will treat your property with the care and respect it deserves. I prefer quieter neighborhoods/areas, and longer term leasing. Visiting Seattle (relocating from Atlanta) on July 20-24 for viewings and, hopefully, lease signing.

Do you have? Off-street parking - Washer/Dryer in unit or on premises - Internet/cable connections - A space of at least 550 sq. ft. - A short walk (1-2 blocks) to bus routes (since I’m not sure how much longer I’ll keep my vehicle) - Some utilities included in the rent costs

Are you in the following neighborhoods? Wallingford - Fremont - Ballard - Central District - Capitol Hill - First Hill - Montlake - Eastlake - University District - Greenlake - Ravenna - Northgate - Wedgewood

Perfect, let’s discuss!

Thanks, TA

I am in a dual degree program and have 3-4 years left in school, and my husband is expecting 3-4 years as well; we both work full time as well. Because we have two young children, we are looking for a house with some greenspace safe for the kids to play outside. We are mature students as my husband has already spent several years in the military. We will not have parties in your house because we will be respecting your house as our home. We are low maintenence renters, and you will only hear from us on the first of the month or if something breaks. We need parking availiability for two cars, a short busride from campus and easy access to 520. We have great rental history, always paying ontime, and have never bounced a check. If you think you have a place for us please contact me by e-mail above as soon as possible. Because we are offering the ease of a long term renting situation, and pushing our budget to be willing to pay this ammount we cannot offer a high deposit. Don't contact me if you want First & Last or more... First plus half we could do.

  • About Me:
I am a 22 year old male whom is single and not looking. I am attempting a double degree in physics and chemistry and shooting for graduate school so I am moderately quiet and to myself. I also just got up and running with my music production project so I stay pretty busy(hoping to be doing gigs in belltown or pioneer square sometime next year). I can be sociable if you want me to be but I can also disappear for days on end. I am looking for a roommate whom is willing to live in a nice area and has made it through their party phase. I am fine with any type of substance use except in excess. I have diagnosed myself with moderate to severe depression and it is because of the views and opinions I have on politics and life. If you want to keep the living arrangements impersonal I will understand. I am very fair when it comes to bills and if room sizes are disproportionate we can sit down and negotiate. I will also be willing to pay half of the luxuries that I don't use but you may want to acquire(i.e. I don't watch tv but you may want to get cable. I would be willing to split the bill.). Again anyone is eligible as I hold no preference on a roommate except for any of the above statements.

Hi I am moving to Seattle to begin graduate study at the UW in statistics and would like to find a room in a shared house. I am 27, male and from New Zealand. I am well house trained! I know how to keep things clean and tidy and to respect the privacy of my fellow house mates. Although I like to relax in the weekends by going to the pub or watching bands, I am quiet and courteous (but just because I'm studying stats doesn't meet I'm boring!!). I have exhausted my party years and will not be listening to loud music at any time of the day or night! I will also be very busy with university so I would be happy living with other graduate students or working professionals. I have a TA-ship at the UW so will have a regular income. Alternatively, if you are an incoming student in my situation then please get in touch if you would like to look for a place together. I'm very keen to meet new people! Cheers!
