Mission Statement

The Husky Pride Fund is established by students to reduce the financial barriers that prevent students from engaging the University of Washington and experiencing everything that this campus has to offer. It will do so by providing support that

• assists students affected by personal or family emergencies
• helps students engage and more fully participate in the University community
• provides scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students

The Husky Pride Fund will enable students to have an experience at the UW as deep and profound as it is for many of their peers. Helping students with financial barriers access the campus not only enhances their time at the UW, it also enriches the University experience for all members of the greater University community.

We want to foster a community environment that creates pride in being Huskies and love for the University of Washington, which may be diminished if students do not have the opportunity to develop their own unique UW experience. Husky Pride ultimately will result in continued campus engagement, personal investment in student well-being, and support of University programs.

Fundraising Initiatives

• Husky Tee
  • Campus wide design competition for students--offering a scholarship for the winner
  • Design embodies what it means to be a Husky
  • The shirt will be sold through various outlets such as the University Bookstore and at UW athletic and campus events

• Change: Students Helping Students
  • Strategic placement of containers at Housing & Food Services’ coffee stands on campus
  • Collect left over change from transactions
  • Plays into the popular existing mindset that customers ‘tip’ at coffee stands
