The Medal of Honor Memorial Taskforce was created in order to see out the mission of a Student Senate resolution that called for the development of a Memorial that would honor all of the alumni of the University of Washington who have been awarded the Medal of Honor. This resolution was written by Andrew P.D.G. Everett, as a result of the failure of a resolution in the Student Senate that would commemorate Colonel Gregory "Pappy" Boyington.[1] The failed resolution stirred up quite a Controversy.

The Taskforce was created in October when the BOD passed Board Bill 4.03, AN ACT TO: To Create the Medal of Honor Resolution Task Force.
