About Student Disability Commission

ASUW Student Disability Commission Director- Holly Siegrist

The SDC and DASA work to build community around the experiences of people with disabilities and make change on campus. Our meetings are a place where anyone can come to express their ideas and concerns about disability issues on campus and in the community. All people with disabilities and allies are welcome. Students without disabilities can come and learn about volunteering to be notetakers for disabled students and how important a job this is. We encourage students to become more educated about disability. One DASA member with a disability was approached recently by someone outside of a class and asked if he was okay and if he needed help, when he was just reading. This is something that happens because of ignorance. At the SDC and DASA we work to promote more awareness, inclusive attitudes, and disability pride.
